Helen Barber
Helen, our PSO, shares about why Christians take safegurading seriously…
Jesus came to heal the sick, bring sight to the blind; he tended to the needs of the vulnerable. It was a sign indicating who he was (Luke 7:18-22 – cf. Isaiah 29:18-21). He also cared about children and spoke about how they are important in the Kingdom of God. (Mark: 10:13-16).
Knowing that Jesus cares about every one of us in our weakness, despite our unworthiness, has made a profound impact on my daily walk with him. For me, Safeguarding within the church is an important reflection of Jesus’ love for us.
At its best, well structured safeguarding creates a healthy culture where all members of the church family are looking out for each other and are trained and vigilant in creating and supporting a preventative environment which helps to deter those who may seek to take advantage of the vulnerable.
This is what we strive for. Please support us in this endeavour.
